Police investigation into deaths in North Epping
Dear friends at MacquarieI am writing to you this morning to ask for your help, and to in turn offer you the University's help, in relation to a deeply troubling matter that has touched the Macquarie community.
Some of you will be aware via the news media that homicide detectives investigating the recent brutal deaths of a family at their home in North Epping, yesterday asked for help and information from Macquarie University students in relation to one of the deceased family members, who they identified as Yun Bin "Irene" Lin, 39.
Police have stated that Irene Lin was a former student at Macquarie, undertaking studies in business during part of this last year, and they asked any fellow students that could offer any sort of information concerning this lady to come forward and contact them.
I would like to add my voice to that plea. If anyone within the Macquarie community - staff or student - can help police with their investigations into Irene Lin's death by helping them to understand more about her life, then I would implore them to contact Eastwood police on (02) 9858 9270. The University will of course help police in their investigation in any way we can, but police have stated that the sort of information they particularly needed was around her personal life.
To these students and staff who knew Irene Lin I would also like to offer the University's support via our professional, on-campus counsellors, who can be contacted on ext 7497 or at counselling@mq.edu.au
