MQ Announcement emails

Streamlining internal communication

To ensure the MQ Announcement system continues to remain an effective communication medium it should only be used when messages are necessary for all staff to know straight away. This means only those messages which fall under the following criteria will be sent out as an MQ Announcement:

  • The content is important for all staff to know about (not just a segment(s))
  • It is urgent and immediate and/or related to safety/risk

Obtaining approval

Before any MQ Announcement can be sent, approval must be obtained from one of the following members of the Executive, or whoever is acting on their behalf:

  • Professor S Bruce Dowton, Vice-Chancellor
  • Professor Jim Piper, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research)
  • Professor Judyth Sachs, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Provost)
  • Jeff Stewart, Chief Operating Officer
  • Mr John Gorman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Chief Financial Officer
  • Ms Deidre Anderson, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students and Registrar)
  • Mr Tim Sprague, Director of Human Resources

Include the following in your MQ Announcement message:

  • Subject
  • Name and email address of the sender
  • An indication of whether the message needs to go to 'all staff' or 'staff and students'
  • The authorising member of the Executive

Deadlines

The Marketing Unit distributes MQ Announcement twice weekly unless the message is a matter of urgency.
