  • Final E Waste Disposal Day - 2008-12-02

    The final E Waste Disposal Day for 2008 will be held on Wednesday 10 December, from 9.30am-3.30pm (Macquarie University owned equipment only), in Building E6A, room 133.
  • Network outage - 15 December 2008 - 2008-11-26

    IT Services will be undertaking maintenance on the computer network on 15 December 2008.

  • Invitation to attend Voice Over IP Presentations - PABX Replacement Project - 2008-11-26

    You may be aware that IT Services has commenced a project to replace the University's current PABX phone system. On the 3 & 4 December, six vendors will provide a short presentation to the University community detailing how their solution may meet our current and future needs.
  • System Maintenance - 1 November 2008 - 2008-10-29

    IT Services will be performing System upgrades/maintenance on Saturday 1 November at 9pm until Sunday 2 November at 5am. The work being performed during this maintenance period is detailed below.
  • Web Accessibility Training Program For Staff - 2008-10-15

    The Equity and Diversity Unit invite all interested staff to the following free web accessibility workshops.
  • Internet Access Interruption - Friday 17 October - 2008-10-15

    AARnet, the University's internet service provider has advised us that due to the urgent need to replace faulty equipment all Internet access for Universities within the Sydney basin will be unavailable this coming Friday October 17 between 10pm and midnight.
  • System Maintenance - 12 October 2008 - 2008-10-10

    IT Services will be performing system upgrades/maintenance on Sunday 12 October 2008, between the hours of 6am-4pm, which is the scheduled maintenance window for October 2008. 
  • New University Email System and Addresses - 2008-09-10

    Macquarie University will soon be moving all staff email accounts to a single, university-wide solution, which will improve communication throughout the organisation and also allow for better IT support.
  • University Spam Filter - 2008-09-04

    The spam epidemic is a universal challenge and problems continue to impact email users at Macquarie. Some improvements have been made and we are now successfully filtering out more than 80% of incoming email identified as spam. This announcement is informing you of the support services available for you get the best results from the University Spam Filter.
  • Blocking of email - 2008-09-01

    The University has endorsed a policy that requires all email systems to be registered with IT Services. Note that they must be REGISTERED with, not APPROVED by ITS.  Please register email systems with the IT Service Desk on extension 4357, option 2,  before close of business Friday 5 September 2008.
  • Network Outage - 2008-08-27

    Some critical systems maintenance work is required between 6pm Saturday 30 August and 7am Sunday 31 August. During this period business systems and the website will be unavailable. WebCT will continue to be available.
  • Academic Restructure - ITS Centralised Activities - 2008-08-12

    As part of the Academic Restructure project funding has been approved for Information Technology Services (ITS) to consolidate all staff on to a centralised file storage service which is integrated with Active Directory facilities.
  • System Maintenance - 2008-07-23

    IT System Maintenance is scheduled for Sunday 27 July between the hours of 0500 - 0900.
  • Phishing Email messages sent to University email addresses - 2008-07-16

    Lately there has been an increase in 'phishing' email messages sent to University email addresses, claiming to remove your account (any account) or offer great riches.
  • ITS Extended Hours of Support - 2008-07-16

    ITS is seeking volunteers from the academic and general staff communities to actively participate in the Steering Committee to oversee development of the required service levels.
  • Network Outage - Internet Access - 2008-06-05

    A few minor network changes are required between 7am and 7.30am on Saturday 7 June 2008.

  • Campus Network Upgrade Project - Downtime - 2007-12-20

    This communication provides an update on the periods of network downtime required by the Campus Network Upgrade project. Overall, work scheduled for the Christmas period is about 90% complete, but a problem remains that is preventing successful completion.

    The University's computer network is currently being upgraded to provide more capacity and a faster, more reliable service. This email provides a status report on progress and, importantly, an update on likely periods of downtime.
  • Spam email update - 2007-12-12

    At noon Tuesday 11 December 2007, IT Services commenced a series of changes aimed at reducing the amount of spam entering the University's email system. 
  • Network Outages During December - 2007-12-07

    As previous advised, the Universitys computer network is about to be upgraded to provide more capacity and a faster, more reliable service. The previous email indicated that the work would be completed over the Christmas break and that all systems would be unavailable throughout the period. A number of departments have communicated a range of difficulties without the network over this period.

    Commencing noon Tuesday 11 December 2007, IT Services will commence a series of changes aimed at reducing the amount of spam entering the University's email system.
  • IT User Experience Survey - 2007-12-03

    Staff are invited to respond to a survey aimed at understanding the user experience for IT systems at the University.
