General Staff Faculty Change Proposal
As a part of the review of Academic Structure, we have been working on the design of a new General Staff Faculty support structure.
We are now ready to present the change proposal in relation to the new structure, and I will present the details of the proposed changes in a number of briefing sessions commencing from Wednesday 4th June.
Very broadly, the proposed Change will identify that:
* Most General staff based in Departments will stay in their current Department, or move into a new combined Department.
* Most General staff in Divisional offices will move into Faculty Offices.
* We will be creating a number of new Faculty management roles which will provide new career progression opportunities for General staff.
* In only a few cases we may have too many Divisional staff for the new Faculty roles. We expect as a consequence, that there may be a handful of displaced staff. In these cases the University will explore a range of possible redeployment opportunities with affected staff in the first instance.
The presentation will be repeated 4 times, once for each new Faculty. I invite all Divisional/Faculty based General staff and any other interested staff to attend. Ideally you should attend the presentation for your Faculty. If you are not sure which Faculty you will be moving into, please refer to the most recent version of the Four Faculty Option, at www.mq.edu.au/provost/reports/academicstructure.html
The presentation dates and times are as follows:
The presentation for staff moving into the Faculty of Science will be held on Wednesday 4 June from 10-11am in E7B T4.
The presentation for staff moving into the Faculty of Human Science will be held on Thursday 5 June from 3-4pm in W5A T1.
The presentation for staff moving into the Faculty of Arts will be held on Friday 6 June from 2-3pm in C5C T1.
The presentation for staff moving into the Faculty of Business and Economics will be held on Friday 6 June from 3-4pm in C5C T1.
We are finalising the change proposal and expect to place it on the web early next week. A further announcement will follow to let staff know when it is up.
Consultation is an important aspect of this process and I will be inviting staff to provide written feedback to Phil Hagan, Deputy Director, Human Resources on the proposed changes by 30 June 2008 as well as holding a followup meeting on the changes.
