MQ Announcements

General Staff Change Process

Following my presentation on 19 June we are releasing further documents supporting the change proposal.  These documents are: Revisions to Staff Movement List - for Human Science and  Proposed Functional Responsibilities for the Faculty Management roles.

These documents together with the presentation from 19 June can be viewed at www.mq.edu.au/provost/reports/academicstructure.html

The list for Human Sciences has been revised taking into account the additional consultation sessions conducted with Divisional Human Resources representatives, Heads of Departments and the Acting Dean.

Other amendments to lists will be released at the end of the consultation process when we have received all the feedback.  We have noted that the Department of Chiropractic and Statistics were incorrectly mapped and that staff in both these areas will be mapped to Science. These corrections will be reflected when revised lists are released at the implementation phase of the process.

In response to requests we have outlined the broad responsibilities of the Management positions identified in the proposal document.  We have included the general staff roles in this summary - the Manager Teaching and Learning is an academic role and is still being developed.  I note we have not included a Manager of Finance but as indicated, we have received feedback on whether this role is required and what it might entail.  We are happy to receive feedback on this or any of the other roles.

The consultation period on the Change Proposal has been extended to 7 July 2008.

After this time the University will fully consider the feedback received and provide a summary and response to staff on the issues identified.

The University will then make a decision on how to proceed with the change having taken account of the feedback and will release a proposed implementation plan for the change.

We will therefore be scheduling further communication and consultation sessions in July to discuss these issues with staff.
