2008 'Your Say' Survey Results

The summary report for Macquarie University's 2008 'Your Say' Survey is now available on the HR website at www.hr.mq.edu.au. This report was produced by the Voice Project, the organisation who developed and conducted the survey.

This is the second time the university has conducted the 'Your Say' survey. The results are based on a core set of questions used in many Australian universities and tailored questions specific to Macquarie University.

Our response rate was 67%.

The top three areas of improvement in management practices from 2006 to 2008 were:
1. Awareness of the university's vision (30% increase from 40% to 70%),
2. Awareness of the university's overall strategy (28% increase from 33% to 61%), and
3. Improvement in the way the university is run over the last 12 months (15% increase from 26% to 41%).

The three management practices which scored the lowest in the survey were:
1. Communication across all sections of the university (15%),
2. Sharing of information and knowledge across the university (20%),
2. Handling change in the university (20%),
3. Efficiency and design of the university's policies and procedures (21%)
