Sustainable Space Allocation Guidelines available
Following a long consultative process culminating in the establishment of a Space Guidelines Working party through June and July this year, the Vice-Chancellor has approved the latest version of these guidelines.
Space is a limited resource at every university including Macquarie. At this time when sustainability is paramount, it is imperative that we promote the efficient use of our buildings within the constraints of their intended purpose and provide space that is appropriate for the undertaking of relevant tasks. The primary and driving goals of all future buildings and refurbishment will be to provide appropriate working environments to promote learning and research, that improve sustainability, improve space efficiency and increase flexibility.
The policy will be applied in planning for all new buildings, for all refurbishment and all situations where space is reviewed or reallocated to meet changing needs.
The policy can be viewed at: www.ofm.mq.edu.au/documents/Sustainable_Space_Allocation_ver4-5.pdf
