Biological Sciences Annual Evolution Lecture
You are invited to attend a public lecture given by Stanford University biological scientist Professor Paul Ehrlich titled The Dominant Animal.
The Dominant Animalpicks up on many of the central issues of his popular book, The Population Bomb and reveals startling new research and analysis on the fate of our planet and humanity. How did humans evolve to a position of dominance? And what have they done to the planet in the process? What will the future hold for us if we continue down the same destructive path? Hear Professor Erhlich address these questions and more.
Professor Erhlich is an expert in the fields of evolution, ecology, taxonomy, and population biology. Ehrlich has conducted fieldwork from the Arctic and the Antarctic to the tropics, and from high mountains to the ocean floor. He has written more than 800 scientific papers and popular articles as well as many books.
The lecture will be formally opened by Mr Bob Carr, former Premier of NSW.
RSVP not required.
The lecture will be held on Wednesday 5 November at 1pm in T1, Building X5B. For enquiries please contact Professor Andy Beattie on ext 8154 or email abeattie@bio.mq.edu.au.
