New Executive Dean of Human Sciences appointed

Janet GreeleyDear Colleagues,

I am very pleased to let you know that Professor Janet Greeley will be joining us in October as Executive Dean of the Faculty of Human Sciences.

Janet is currently the Pro-Vice Chancellor of the Faculty of Arts, Education and Social Sciences at James Cook University, and has been a member of executive management at JCU for more than 11 years.

She has an enviable track record as a university researcher and administrator, and we believe that together with Mark Gabbott and Stephen Thurgate, Janet will do an outstanding job leading Macquarie’s new Faculties into an exciting period.

Janet’s area of research interest is the psychology of addictive behaviour, especially the role of learning in drug tolerance and dependence. The early part of her academic career was spent in Canada, during which she obtained a BSc (Hons), an MA and a PhD in Psychology.

She moved to Australia in 1987 and has held academic positions at the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre at the University of New South Wales and at JCU.

She is the Universities Australia representative on the Specialist Education Accreditation Committee of the Australian Medical Council and was recently appointed as an auditor with the Australian Universities Quality Agency. Janet has also served on a number of government advisory committees and is a member of a range of professional societies.

I am sure you will join me in welcoming Janet to the University when she starts her new role in October.

This message was sent and approved by Professor Steven Schwartz, Vice-Chancellor.
